The Kai Shun Paring Knife has a 4 inch (10cm) blade making this an ideal knife for peeling or cutting small vegetables and fruits. This is the perfect knife for the removal of those hard to get to seeds from a chilli or for garnishing.
Crafted with precision in Japan, the Kai Shun Paring Knife is comprised of 32 layers of the highest quality folded Damascus steel resulting in a sharper, more durable cutting edge. The process of folding the steel produces beautiful watermarks on the blade making this product as aesthetically pleasing as it is effective. This legendary metal is a combination of VG10 Steel and SUS410 High Carbon Steel making it highly resistant to corrosion.
As with all of Kai’s Shun series knives, this knife utilises an ergonomically shaped handle to ensure comfort and prevent slippage. The black Pakka wood and resin coated handle offers a sophisticated and refined finish to this already impressive knife.
Use for preparing finer dishes.
Kai’s Shun range is presented boxed with a textured grain finish and embossed with gold lettering, making this an ideal gift.
With this product, Kai prove that they remain one of the top manufacturers of knives in the world without compromising the essence of their success – centuries old Japanese culture and traditional methods of manufacturing their knives.
Kai’s top quality knives will retain their sharpness with care.
Following the manufacturer’s guidelines, owners should:
- Clean knives with hot water before using for the first time.
- After each use clean under running water and dry with soft cloth. Avoid detergents.
- Rinse off acidic substances such as lemon juice immediately after use.
- Never put in a dishwasher.
- Never cut on glass or granite cutting boards. These will ruin the cutting edge.
- If your knife has a wooden handle, avoid leaving it in water for too long. To retain the smoothness of the handle, occasionally massage with a neutral vegetable oil.
- When storing, never allow the blade direct contact with another metal object as this could damage the blade.
Re-Sharpening
All of Kai’s knives should be sharpened the traditional way. This is by using a whetstone of ceramic compound or using Kai’s electric ceramic sharpener. By using ceramic whetstone sharpeners you will be preserve the unique identity of these knives and ensure that they not remain razor sharp, but for longer.
Kai products have long had cult status in Japan with an unmistakable degree of recognition. Founded in Seki in 1908, the company has for 100 years developed and sold cutlery and related products of excellent sharpness and function.
Technical innovations and the constant drive for aesthetic design give Kai chef's knives their unmistakable and global recognition.
